California/Marin Ballot

The following recommendations come from three dependable sources: Carl DeMaio's Reform California, Jon Fleischman's So Does it Matter, and Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association. Their recommendations are identical with the single exception that HJTA suggests a No on Prop. 38. The links above allow you to read their entire arguments for and against the issues.

On Reform California site you can enter your county and it will populate with local races according to your district. A reminder, we are Assembly District 12 and CA Senate District 2.

Marin County Tax Tsunami

A very good education is found at Coalition of Sensible Taxpayers' website. It appears every local proposition on the ballot is a property or parcel tax measure, and many are allowed to pass by a simple majority, 50%+1. That is not a high mark since it does not affect renters; why should they worry?

The famous quote: Democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover they can vote themselves largesse out of the public treasure. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefit from the public treasury, with the result that democracy always collapses over a loose fiscal policy, always to be followed by a dictatorship, and then a monarchy.   ~ Alexander Fraser Tytler
